Therapeutic Massage
What is therapeutic massage?
Therapeutic massage is a treatment method to reduce or remove the tension in the muscle and/or tendon. It helps to speed up the body’s own healing processes, reduce or remove chronic pain, creates a better inner balance and can be used as part of a treatment to recover from musculo-skeletal and associated problems.
Below you will find the common conditions we treat :
- Neck pain ;
- Lower back pain ;
- Hip, knee and foot pain (muscularly-related) ;
- Shoulder and underarm pain (muscularly related) ;
- Tennis elbow ;
- General muscle pain/stiffness ;
- Repetitive strain injuries ;
- Injuries of the soft tissue ;
- Carpal tunnel syndrome.
We offer three different kinds of massage :
Remedial Massage
Tensions of the muscles can trigger or radiate pain to other parts of the body. With an assessment and palpation techniques, we will trace the original reason for your complaints/pain where after the treatment is focused on achieving a change to the affected muscles or tendons.
The aim of this treatment is to reduce pain and tension in combination with a better blood supply and reduced inflammation, improve mobility and stimulate a better inner balance.
The technique we use within this treatment could be either a classic massage therapy, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage and tendon friction. The pressure of the massage can either be strong and deep or gentle, depending on your problem. In combination with this treatment, we might stretch different muscle groups to increase the range of motion of the joints and support you with stretching exercises for at home.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is a good treatment method to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, to recover after a big event, or to function well during training. But not only athletes can benefit from this treatment
If you have a musculo-skeletal complaint and you like to have a sports massage, you are welcome too. Before starting a treatment, we will analyse your complaints and tension points through an assessment and palpation techniques. During the massage, we will use a variety of pressures ; often, it will be a deeper and more intense pressure compared with a classical massage.
The objective of this therapy is to relieve tension of the soft tissue like muscles and tendons as well as to increase the blood circulation so that your body heals and recovers faster after an injury or an intensive training.
Scar Massage
If you had a surgery, accident or disease which left a scar, it might be interesting and important to treat it with a scar massage.
After an operation, you’ll have to wait with the treatment till the scar is closed and your doctor agreed to the treatment. The scar massage is used to soften and flatten your scar. With the massage, we are promoting the collagen remodelling by applying soft pressure to the scar.
The goal is to give the scar good moisture and flexibility which will help you to increase the mobility of the affected part and move it as smoothly as possible.
