Thorax/Chest complaints
Thorax/Chest
The thorax/chest is located between the neck and the abdomen. It is formed of the upper back, breastbone (sternum) and the ribs. The breastbone is a flat bone which forms the centre of the chest.
The first till the seventh ribs have direct contact with the breastbone. Also, the collarbone (clavicle) is contented with the sternum. The thorax contains organs like the heart, lungs and thymus as well as various muscles, tendons, nerves and other internal structures.
Chest pain or tension around the chest can disturb one’s daily activities and the breathing. Sometimes the pain’s cause comes from another area of your body which irradiates to the thorax.
