Thoracic conditions: physiotherapy in Le Grand-Saconnex
The thorax is located between the neck and abdomen. The rib cage consists of the thoracic vertebrae, ribs and sternum, a flat bone in the centre of the chest.
The first seven pairs of ribs are connected to the sternum by cartilage. The collarbones also form joints with the sternum. The thorax houses the heart and lungs and includes muscles, tendons, nerves and other tissues.
Pain or tension in the thoracic region can interfere with everyday activities and make breathing uncomfortable. Pain felt in the chest may also originate from another area of the body.
