Ankle and foot pain: physiotherapy in Le Grand-Saconnex
The ankle joint, known as the talocrural joint, is a synovial hinge joint connecting the tibia and fibula to the talus. Beneath it, the subtalar joint connects the talus to the calcaneus, the heel bone to which the Achilles tendon attaches.
The foot contains 26 bones and numerous soft tissues, including ligaments, muscles and tendons, which work together. The ankle and foot form a functional unit that allows us to walk, run, jump and climb.
Foot and ankle conditions may result from bruising, trauma or sports injuries. Prolonged overloading or weight-related strain may also contribute.
